SARSON DA SAAG (PUNJABI)


Sarson da saag is a famous Punjabi vegetable dish, this recipe is followed the traditional method of preparing the saag. You can enjoy the authentic and healthy taste of sarson da saag by this recipe.

INGREDIENT

Sarson saag (mustard leave) chopped 1 cup
Bathua saag (bathua leave) chopped 1 cup
Chopped onion 1 cup
Garlic paste 2 tbsp
Green chilli vertically cut 5/6
Tomato chopped 1 cup
Makki atta (corn flour) 2 tbsp
Butter 2 tbsp
Garam masala powder 1 tsp
Salt to taste

INGREDIENT FOR TEMPERING

Deshi ghee 4 tbsp
Cumin seeds 1 tsp
whole red chilli 2
Bay leaf 2

PROCESS

Soak sarson saag and bathua saag in water for 1 hour, drain out the water and boil the saag, keep the boiling water
Heat ghee and add the ingredients of tempering, when smell comes out, add onion and lightly fry
Add garlic paste and tomato and chilli
Add saag and continually stir, add the boiling water slowly and repeatedly stir, try to mash the saag with the a ladle
Add makki atta and salt and again stir
Add garam masala powder and butter
Serve with makki di roti
