It is a tasty fish dish, very popular in Bangladesh and West Bengal. It is prepared in occasions especially in marriage ceremony or to welcome guests.

Given below details of ingredients required.


Hilsa pieces 4
Pui saag (Basella or Malabar spinach leaf) 8
Mustard paste 1 tbsp
Coconut paste 1 tbsp
Poppy seed paste 1 tbsp
Green chili paste ½ tsp
Turmeric powder ½ tsp
Salt to taste
Mustard oil ½ cup


Clean the fish pieces and marinate with salt and spices, leave for 20 minutes
Wash the pui leaves and keep the fish pieces with marinated paste on the leaf
Take 2 leaves for each fish pieces and wrap properly
Heat oil in a frying pan and fry the paturis in both side
Served with steamed rice
