CRAB RECIPES INDIAN STYLE


If you like crabs, than surely try this recipe. It is spicy and hot. I have taken this lip smacking crab curry recipe from my grandmother's cook book.

PREPARATION TIME - 15 minutes
COOKING TIME – 20 minutes
SERVED AS - 4 PERSONS

INGREDIENTS

Big size crab – 2 each 150 gm ( cut into pieces and thoroughly cleaned)
Onion slices – 1 large cup
Ginger & garlic paste – 3 tbsp
Tomato paste – 1 cup ( add 4 large tomatoes in hot water to remove the skin and chop, blend in a paste)
Red chili powder – 1 tsp
Cumin powder – 1 tbsp
Coriander powder – 1 tbsp
Garam masala powder – 1 tsp
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
Hot water – 2 cups for gravy
Salt to taste
Mustard oil – ½ cup

INGREDIENTS FOR TEMPERING

Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
Chopped ginger & garlic - 1 tsp
Bay leaf – 1
Green chillies - 4 to 5

PROCESS

Marinate fish pieces with turmeric and salt
Paste together poppy seeds, mustard seeds, chili and garlic florets
Heat oil in a pan, add black cumin seeds, add drum stick and jack fruit seeds
Add salt and turmeric powder
Cook for few minutes, add one large cup of water and cover the pan
When drum sticks will become tender, add spice paste
You can add little amount of water at that time
Add fish and cook for 5 -8 minutes
Garnish with green chilies
Serve with hot steamed rice
